Do you love her? Do you want a future together?
If the answer to either of those questions is no, then you should tell her that. Just be honest about your current feelings for her, because that's what matters.

It doesn't matter what you were doing when you asked her out. I think you shouldn't tell her, because it might just be upsetting her over nothing (unless you need to get it off your chest)

What matters is the love that does or does not exist, not the moment you asked her out.
