i know how u feel. i used to feel the same way about my stepfather, well actually three of them. plz dont do anything u might regret. i agree that we shouldnt have to cut to fall asleep , cuz we are not to blame ,they are. u shouldnt think about killing urself, because the ppl u r living 4 like ur mom. Im living 4 my sisters and they would b helpless if i left them 2 my parents, &killing him could land u in prison. u deserve better ! maybe ur mom should get a divorce, cuz it would prolly be a somewat less dangerous way out. Childhood is tough. Detach from the situation. You give him power when you let anything that he does upset you. Stay in your room, stay out of the house as much as possible and bear it for the next 2 years. After that you're free. It beats a life in prison. Evil wins when you become like them. He only yells because it's effective. Do not encourage negative behavior, it only feeds it. When he acts up, ignore it, don't let it bother or alter you one bit. It will drive him crazy. He's a tyrant because when he upsets people, it validates his existence. This is a very destructive pattern. I feel bad for you. Once you're gone, it will get better.
